Summit Unchained 24: Spring Saison
When Brewer James Birnie landed his first Unchained assignment, he decided he’d take the opportunity to brew what he most enjoys drinking — a saison. Aiming to create a traditional, Belgian-style saison that highlights the flavors and aromas generated by yeast throughout fermentation, James paired yeast from a small Belgian farmhouse brewery with the Stutrud family farm’s heirloom barley variety, classic Czech hop Saaz and American hop Cascade. Crisp, highly carbonated and refreshing, the beer’s herbal, spicy and peppery flavors will help you usher in the spring season.
